I've noticed two types of enviroments artistic captains (directors and producers) can create when working with a team: The most impressive quality of the artistic captains I've worked with is that they can create a safe environment where the entire team feels comfortable to say what they truly think about the work. The captain has the skill to deftly filter the feedback and use whatever helps move the work toward their vision. I call this **Best Idea Wins**. The most unimpressive quality of artistic captains is when they create a stuck-energy environment (sometimes unintentionally) in which the team is reluctant to say what they think about the work because outside ideas are discarded out of the captain's own insecurity about their vision. I call this **My Idea Always Wins**.
